Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  How much do you charge?
A:  My rates are reflected on my Rates page and in my Service Agreement.

Q:  Where is your contract?
A: You can find the link on my Rates page or right here: Service Agreement.

Q: How will my payments handled?
A: Payments can be made by personal check or by Visa, or Mastercard. I do not accept cashier’s checks due to recent fraud in the wedding industry.

For credit card payments, please fill in the last page of the service agreement and mail or fax your completed service agreement to (808) 261-3979.

If you prefer to pay by check, you may mail your check along with the service agreement.

My mailing address may be obtained by calling me: (808) 383-3684.

For your protection, please do not email me your credit card information.

Q:  When are deposits and payments due?
A:  Your fully processed deposit reserves you a place on my calendar.  Upon receiving your completed service agreement and deposit, and provided there is no scheduling conflicts, I will reserve your date and time.  Your deposit is non-refundable.

Your final payment will be due two weeks prior to your event.

Q:  What should I expect from a professional musician.
A:  You should expect a professional musician to be on-time, well-rehearsed, mentally and physically prepared, dressed appropriately, and have his/her equipment in top operating condition. A professional behaves in a way that dignifies your event regardless of the occasion.

Q:  What does "one-hour wedding ceremony only" mean? I see it is offered at a reduced price.
A:  With the one-hour wedding ceremony only special, I will be at your wedding site and available to play unamplified at the appropriate times during a specified 1-hour period. This pricing does not apply in combination with other performances agreements.

Q:  Can you play our favorite song?
A: Yes! I may already know your favorite song so please check my song list. If I do not already know your song, I would need learning materials and a charge applies. Please see my Service Agreement.

Q:  A guest would like to perform a song.  Can she/he use your equipment?
A:  I am sorry to decline on this. If, however, a guest would like to sing (only) a special song that is not a part of my current repertoire, I can learn the song for your event. Please see the preceding question.

Q:  At what locations can you play?
A:  I can perform at almost venue provided permission by owner of the venue has been granted. A travel fee is outlined in my service agreement for areas outside the Honolulu and Windward areas of O`ahu.

Q:  Can you play on the beach?
A:  Yes, but a special permit from the State of Hawaii is required to perform any professional function on public beaches. Your wedding coordinator can handle all the permitting details  :  ) Please see my Resources page.

Q:  Do you offer discounts?
A:  Yes, when booking three or more hours, you will receive an additional ½ hour of performance time free of charge.  In addition, if I am booked for multiple engagements, other discounts may apply. I periodically play for charity organizations free of charge.

Q: Can you perform with a hula dancer as well?
A:  Yes, I work with only the finest professional hula dancers.  Dancers will have their own service agreements. I am happy to make referrals for those with whom I’ve worked in the past because I can be certain that our musical repertoires overlap. Please see my Resources page.

Q:  What if I have a DJ?  Can you use his amplification set up?
A:  Generally no. Only in rare cases do I feel comfortable plugging into a DJ's sound system. This has to do with equipment compatibility, sound quality, and liability. The DJ would need to approve of amplifying me and he would be responsible for the sound quality. A list of professional DJ's I feel comfortable with can be found on my Resources page.
