We contacted Doug Fitch to play during the visitation for our mother’s Celebration of Life on May 4, 2019 at Kailua United Methodist Church. Doug was easy to work with from the very beginning, answering emails promptly and generously offering to accommodate the many musical requests from our family. His repertoire is extensive, including both traditional Hawaiian Slack Key, modern favorites, and original pieces. He is a fine musician and very professional, yet friendly, easy-going, and low-key. His guitar music created the perfect backdrop, welcoming friends and extended family as they arrived at the church. We could not have asked for a better introduction to the memorial service. Thank you so very much, Doug. Mahalo and aloha.
I was coordinating with Doug Fitch personally for my choice of music. There were times I was fickle-minded (which I believe is common for brides who want perfect, memorable music for her wedding). He was utmost responsive to all my inquiries and requests. His voice was spectacular and truly heart-felt. Highly recommended.
Over the years I have bought CD’s from various local and regional artists. Some of them have been good. Others, not so much. Doug Fitch and his music are in another category altogether. His latest release, “Breakaway” is a great example of Doug’s talent as a songwriter, guitarist and singer. There isn’t a track on this disc that you could call a weak link. They all stand on their own very well. “How They Did It Back Home” resonates with me personally because Doug and I both grew up in the same Colorado Mountain Town. “Falling For An Island Girl” is one of my new favorites.
If you aren’t familiar with slack-key guitar music, give “Kaponokaulike” a listen. I am now a fan. “Fitch Brothers-Live in Hawaii” will give you exposure to another talented member of The Family Fitch, older brother Brad.
Do yourself a favor and buy all 5 of Doug’s releases. Support a really talented singer/songwriter and you’ll be glad you did.

We had our wedding ceremony on November 7th, 2017 at this beautiful Kahala Beach. Doug provided guitar and singing for our ceremony. I can describe my experience with him as simply the best! Our booking process was a breeze as we called him many months prior to the wedding and had Doug answering all our questions and requests. On the morning of our wedding he came much earlier than agreed to greet us and our guests. The quality of the music was fantastic, all our guests are still talking about the duo performance with my Dad. I was very appreciative of Doug when my dad unexpectedly started to sing with him. Doug also kept on performing passionately throughout our ceremony. I highly recommend Doug for anyone who likes outstanding customer service, great personality, and awesome performance and music! Great job Doug and thank you for making our wedding day extra special!
– Kevin and Sarah
We had the perfect wedding. We wanted a unique. personal ceremony on the beach. As a professional musician myself, the quality of music at the ceremony was imperative. All the ukulele and guitar players I checked out were inadequate, until I found Doug Fitch. Not only is Doug a wonderful player, but also a wonderful person. So eager to help and easy to work with. I felt like I had a friend joining us. Not just a musician. I wanted to surprise my bride by singing a song to her. Doug learned the song and it was perfect. We even sang a duet afterward to entertain the group. Even more special was the original song that Doug played and sang while we danced on the beach. I couldn’t imagine a better way to celebrate our love. Thank you Doug for helping make our wedding day perfect in every way.
– Matt Dean
My wife and I had Doug perform at our rehearsal dinner a day before our wedding. For us, this event was just as important as our wedding reception due to the fact that it was our only chance to have a small celebration with our close family and friends. Doug was absolutely AMAZING! Not only is he an extremely talented musician but he also made everyone in attendance feel warm, comfortable, and welcome. Doug is one of those people who you feel close to the minute you meet him. He is highly energetic with a great sense of humor which made him great at connecting with our guests and allowing everyone to relax and celebrate. I would 100% recommend Doug for any event!!
– Brandyn McCall
Dear Doug, we’re so thrilled and thankful that we found you to play our wedding ceremony! Your love and enthusiasm for Hawaiian music is very clear and it shows in your performance. We will definitely catch one of your shows!

I felt that it was important to provide some live Hawaiian music, specifically some slack key guitar, for my son’s wedding and reception party afterwards. My search led me to Doug Fitch, and he delivered outstanding service in all areas.
First, he is an excellent musician, very accomplished on the guitar. I can see and hear the greats such as Led Kaapana in Doug’s music, and it was truly wonderful to listen to him play. He has an excellent and diverse repertoire as well, and was able to add some great songs from outside the slack key genre that fit into our “crowd” very nicely.
Secondly, as a businessman, Doug is easy to contact, is very personable to work with, and delivers an excellent product. He ensured that he was able to communicate with my son to get a good understanding of what my son’s desires were. He arrived at the venue early, and was set up and ready to go with plenty of time to spare. He conducted himself in a friendly, and very professional manner at all times.
Many of our guests commented on how much they enjoyed talking with Doug, and listening to him play. I completely agree with them. I enjoyed very much having Doug at my son’s wedding and reception party, and was very pleased that we were able to have him there. If I ever have an occasion for a live musician, Doug Fitch will be my first call.

I listened to (your slack key guitar album) “Kaponokaulike” while ironing clothes and found it to be so amazing. One would think it’s an old soul from Hawaiian ancestry but it’s you from Colorado. Just love the soft tones and it is now my go to while ironing in the future. Mahalo.

Bob and I send a heartfelt Thank You to you for playing your exceptional music at our daughters recent Wedding & Reception! You played it all and so beautifully, whether it was your amazing Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Tunes or your romantic songs we had requested, you played and sang so beautifully, with so much heart & soul, you truly connected with everyone!
Thank you again for helping make our daughter’s Destination Wedding in Hawaii so memorable, so richly defined with your beautiful voice and music!

On behalf of Legacy of Life Hawaii and the families we serve, thank you for your efforts in creating a memorable Donor Remembrance Ceremony for Hawaii’s organ, tissue, and eye donor families on Saturday, April 26, 2014. An event of this magnitude involves the dedication of many hands and hearts. Your music was uplifting and beautiful, and helped families feel at ease and comfortable with each other, talking story and bonding during their lunch. Your presence added greatly to the spirit of the day!

I recently conducted a wedding ceremony where Doug Fitch was the musician. Right from the prelude, which included several slack key guitar selections, he made quite an impression on the guests. Many were saying: “Wow, that’s good,” or “That sounds so amazing!” Then Doug sang the processional, and after the vows sang a musical dedication which he had written himself. Both songs were beautiful and heartfelt. There is no doubt that Doug has a special gift and that his musical talents are at the highest artistic level. He added significantly to the emotional warmth of the wedding, and his music was most fitting in our Hawaiian setting.

We were really fortunate that Doug was able to play for our wedding. He was really easy to work with and met all of our requests. Afterward, I talked to our guests and everyone had nothing but compliments about Doug. Our guests really enjoyed the entertainment. If another opportunity comes up, we will definitely ask Doug again for his services. Thanks Doug!
Thank you for playing at [my daughter] Kirsten’s wedding and reception on Monday. It was a really nice addition to the event, and a lot of fun! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed your music. I love your Kaponokaulike album. I have it on my computer and phone now. Looking forward to hearing the next one! It was certainly a pleasure to meet you and to spend the afternoon and evening listening to your wonderful music.
– Peggy Leong
We could not be happier with our selection of Doug Fitch as our musician at our wedding at Turtle Bay. He is talented, entertaining, self-sufficient, and a good value. Our only complaint is that, as a busy bride and groom, we didn’t get to enjoy his entire performance like our guests did, due to time constraints! Our guests raved about his performance and were glad he helped give us a very special day!

Living in Texas and planning a wedding in Hawaii, I was worried about how I would find the right vendors to make my wedding dreams come true. After doing some research online, I ran across Doug’s website. I immediately went to YouTube and watched a few of his videos and was blown away by his musical talents and the beautiful Hawaiian sounds he produced. Upon emailing Doug to inquire about booking his services, he was quick to respond and to take the time out of his schedule to set up a call with me to discuss the details. Booking Doug’s services was quick and easy. We communicated throughout the intervening time until my wedding. I had the pleasure of Doug’s brother, Brad, accompanying Doug at our wedding, and the instrumental music they provided could not have been more perfect. It was a wonderful background to our ceremony and all of our guests thoroughly enjoyed the music. Thanks Doug and Brad for a wonderful time!
It was an honor and a pleasure having you entertain both Scott and me at our November 11, 2011 wedding. You are truly amazing and the dancers added an extra special touch while dancing at Queen Emma’s Summer Palace.
With Love and Aloha,
Joyce and Scott Martin
The musical entertainment Doug provided during our Open House Reception at Kailua Wellness Center & Acupuncture Clinic was a wonderful blend of mellow, easy listening music and lively, interactive music.
Doug is skilled not only as a musician but as an entertainer, easily engaging the audience and providing a good excuse to smile and dance a little……or not. Mahalo Doug!

Doug Fitch was a great addition to our wedding! He played funtastic music that really fit the mood of the the day. Doug, thank you so much also for the wonderful music at our wedding reception on July 24th at Moli’i Gardens. We loved having you and our guests really enjoyed the music—as did we!

I got tons of positive feedback about the party and your music. Thanks so much for playing for us! Your music lent awesome ambiance and they appreciated your association with the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts. Mahalo nui loa ia ‘oe.

P.S. I’ve been listening to your CD in my car. Awesome!
Doug Fitch did a fantastic job playing for our recent wedding ceremony and reception. He beautifully played all of the songs we requested and his singing and playing provided just the right atmosphere for our evening of celebration. Our guests had nothing but great things to say about his performance throughout the night. Doug was a pleasure to work with and a true professional, and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a musician for their special event. Mahalo!

I just wanted to send a quick note, to say a HUGE thank you for playing at our ceremony. You are truly a very talented musician, our guest raved about you! Thank you for the CD also; it will forever remind us of our magical wedding in Oahu.
Again, thank you.
Jade & Mykel
My husband and I got married on Dec., 8, 2008 and you performed at our reception at the Hau Tree Lanai Restaurant. You did an amazing job! We were truly, truly honored to have you perform, and your musicality was the perfect touch for our reception—it helped make the reception both Hawaiian and very tropical in nature. THANK YOU!
I just wanted to extend an extended thanks. Ever since that trip to Hawaii (my third, Justin’s first), Hawaii has played an increasingly large role in our household. In particular, many thanks for spending a great deal of time with our own resident musicians and for playing Iz’s “Over the Rainbow” as our wedding song. It’s my favorite song and ever since we got engaged, I knew I wanted it as our wedding song. Your rendition of it was absolutely perfect. I can’t wait to get back my friends’ video of the ceremony so that I can watch/listen to our first dance. In the car, however, we have your CD playing in our car’s stereo on repeat—sometimes I think it’s the only thing that helps us maintain our sanity during the crazy commute! We look forward to playing your CD in our nursery once we eventually have kids. It’s just really great, beautiful music, and we love it.
We’re definitely attempting to make visits to the islands a regular part of our life. Perhaps more special is that we’re returning to the islands for our two-year anniversary. Hawaii’s very much an important part of our lives, and I very much thank you for sharing your portion of it with us—it’s with us daily.
Thank you dearly for all of your help. Many thanks for being the perfect guitarist at our reception. We loved your music and would highly recommend you to anyone.
Mahalo nui loa.

My husband and I hired Doug Fitch to perform throughout our wedding ceremony and reception and he was one of the best choices we made. We had a very small wedding—less than 30 guests—and we wanted a musician to perform live in order to maintain the intimate feel of the event. Doug had already worked at our venue, so there were no logistical kinks to work out, and the venue coordinator raved about him when she heard that we’d hired him.
Since ours was a destination wedding, we had to find all of our vendors online. We found Doug’s website and thought it was very professional. He has samples of his music there, and you can also see videos of him performing on YouTube. This was like a long-distance interview. My husband spoke to him on the phone and thought he sounded like a fun guy, so we hired him! After doing so, we ordered his CD from Amazon and listened to the full versions of his songs in order to choose which ones we wanted to be featured during the ceremony. He played everything exactly like we asked and did a terrific job fading the music in and out of the ceremony at the appropriate times. After the ceremony, he kind of serenaded us with a new wedding song he’s working on. It was beautiful and had very sweet lyrics which would be great for a wedding.
Our guests praised Doug’s performance during and for months after the wedding. His music has the perfect combination of energy and tranquility, so as he played throughout the reception, the mood was upbeat, but not at all intrusive. (That goes for the songs with and without vocals.) Finally, Doug was easy to work with. He was on time, knew our plans in advance, and his presence really enhanced our wedding. He even stayed after his “shift” and hung out with our photographers for a while, which I thought was very cool.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being a part of and making our wedding day a special day. Our guests including all our friends and family kept commenting on your music and the beautiful grace of the hula dancers. As a local girl, returning to the Islands, I knew in my heart I chose the right song “Kawaipunahele” by Keali’i Reichel as my processional song. You played it so beautifully, it brought tears to my eyes!
Mahalo nui loa from Christian and me.
Christian and Lori Bassig
We were so fortunate to have found you in time for our daughter’s wedding in Oahu! You were so professional, genuine, prompt and spot-on with everything you did! You definitely spread the ohana spirit. Our guests just loved the beauty of your music. It enhanced the entire Hawaiian wedding experience! We smile when we think of Kirsten and Justin’s outdoor reception at the Hau Tree Restaurant in the Kaimana Beach Hotel. I can still picture them dancing to their song which you strummed and sang so elegantly, knowing exactly how to showcase the special couple. Thanks for creating such wonderful memories. Every time we listen to your music now it brings those perfect moments back, and every time we go back to Hawaii we hear in our minds Wonderful World/Over The Rainbow, and we smile again. Mahalo!

To Hawaiian music fans and couples planning your wedding:
I heartily endorse Doug Fitch after the successful entertainment of our wedding, January 2010 in Honolulu. Here is some of the story about how it went off so well.
First, before any music was even discussed, Doug was saving us money by presenting the discount card (Romance) which was great for getting discounts on several of our wedding related services. A few hundred dollars was saved.
I always prefer live music, so I was looking for someone who could entertain and change gears: during the course of our evening, Doug played many roles and many styles of music. He was in the background when he needed to be, and we had great song choices for that. At other times, he was more in the spotlight when he was directing our hula group dance or playing a request. He has the ability to amp up the sound or go completely acoustic depending on the conditions, which helped us a lot over the course of the 4 hours of our event.
He has his own CD of original tunes, and he made it available to us early on, and we liked it from the beginning. It’s very upbeat with good messages so we knew some of those songs too could fit in with our wedding themes. There are a large number of excellent Hawaiian guitar slack key songs that he can play, and also some rock, folk, and other popular music. He let us select a lot of the songs from his list. And helped when we didn’t know what would go well in each part of our timeline.
The array of guitars on display when he set up surprised me, but it shows the level of skill he has attained. Playing slack key is an impressive accomplishment to begin with, but add to that the other guitars and the ukulele, and it’s a great variety—and all of them went well.
And not only could he play guitar, he was a very good entertainer. This is a key distinction. His vocals, attitude, and knowledge added a lot to our event, and I think this is a rare combination in a single person. One example coming to mind was our “Hukilau” group hula. Only an insider with personal experience in Hawaiian culture could have a chance to pull it off that well – we had our whole guest party joining the hula dancers and us in this hula about fish and the sea.
The hula dancer was also great in her performances, and leading by example for the youngsters, and the number of adults from America and from Japan – all were able to follow her lead and enjoy it. My bride and I also had to take a private lesson and this went very well. We quickly went into the steps and she kept it very simple so we could learn it quickly. She was friendly and available, so it was so nice to work with her during the busy few days before our wedding. She was also able to teach a couple of dances to 2 cute young girls who performed a keiki hula for our guests. She also knows the Hawaiian culture well which was important for our fun time.
All in all, the time went by very fast and it was a lot of fun. We’ll be looking for more of Doug’s albums or concerts when we’re in Hawaii again. And we hope to take more hula lessons when we can too. We didn’t take video of the music and hula that night, which is kind of unfortunate because we’d like to enjoy them some more.

We were so glad Doug could perform at our wedding. He was so nice and great to work with. He was able to accommodate all of our song requests and he even was able to change instruments in the middle of the ceremony to accommodate my request to walk down the isle to the ukulele!! He played so beautifully and he really helped to make our ceremony special.
– Joel and Heidi Fitzwater
Everyone really enjoyed your performance and talent and we are so appreciative! Please use me as a reference anytime as I would have nothing but wonderful things to say!
– Natasha Gray, Hawai’i Meth Project
Once again I would like to thank you so much for playing at our wedding! There were alot of compliments mentioned to us from our guests about the music being beautiful and amazing and it made the day that much more special!
– Jennifer Baillargeon (Schmidt)
Doug Fitch donated his time and talents to our fund-raising concert at Don Ho’s Island Grill in March 2009. Those of us old enough to remember the great Hawaiian slack-key artists of the past were thrilled to hear this music so beautifully performed again. Some of us fell reverently silent; others got “chicken skin” as the years seemed to melt away.
The younger people who originally came to hear rock bands play were impressed with Doug’s skill and presence. They have had few opportunities to experience such mastery of slack-key and were in awe of Doug’s professionalism.
It was a treat for all of us. We are deeply appreciative of Doug’s generosity in helping with our mission in Peru.

What can I say, but wow! What a marvelous time to have you there at our anniversary ball. The hula was very beautiful and the music was great. You truly added to our celebration with your talents.
Thanks again for the CD, we are listening to it as I am typing. My RP has already commented on how beautiful you play and sing.
Thanks again for everything.
We’ve seen Doug perform all over the place, and just knew that our guests would appreciate a great mix of live music, from folk to country to Hawaiian slack key. He is the consummate entertainer, and is amazing as both the “main event” and as pleasant background music. His talent and passion shine through in every song.
– Bob & Roni Rooks
Aloha, I want to express my gratitude to Doug Fitch for coming through for us! My son was getting married and last minute I’m without music, I called Doug and was blessed by his calender having a open moment where he could be there for us. His music was wonderful, soothing and fresh. What an amazing musician. Again Doug I wish to express my gratitude and love for being a vital part of my son’s big day!
Much aloha, Tami
Bryan and I would like to thank you for the absolutely beautiful job you did at our wedding in November!! You came highly recommended by my wedding coordinator so, we knew you’d be great but we didn’t know how kind and thoughtful you would be. And on top of all that we could tell how much you love what you do. The fact that making music makes you happy added so much more to our special day and for that we will be forever grateful.
Bryan and Maggie Mermilliod
Thank you again for playing at our wedding! What an amazing musician you are. We couldn’t have asked for a better song selection and ambiance you provided for our special day, not to mention the choice for when I walked down the isle! You knew exactly what to play and exactly what we wanted, yet our wedding was the very first time meeting one another. You are a truly remarkable musician. As you continued to play during our cocktail reception and as we visited with family and friends, hearing your voice and guitar provided the type of atmosphere we hoped to have. We heard nothing but wonderful comments from our guests about your music. They wanted you to continue all night! Can we do it all over again?!
– Chelsea & Jesse Goff
We absolutely loved having you perform for us at the fund raiser for the Hawaii Foodbank. I am glad we were able to introduce you at the Perry and Price radio show. Saturday’s audience was quite impressed as well!

I just want to extend my thanks and gratitude to you for participating in Magic at Mission Houses. We had over 700 people in attendance and there were rave reviews from many. This is the best event we have had and it would not have been possible without your help. Your song selection was perfect. It was nice to hear some Folk, Bluegrass, and Hawaiian and you blended it so well. Your music added to the festivity of this event. Best to you and I look forward to working together again in the future.

My wife and I would like to express our gratitude for your fine musical performance at our son’s wedding reception. My guests were pleasantly surprised to hear you play Hawaiian slack key songs that were written and sung by some of our Hawai`i’s finest talents such as Gabby…etc. Your music made dinner a delight and brought a special touch and ambiance to the party. My son and his new bride gave rave reviews about your entertainment, and also stated your performance complemented the white-table-cloth and candle-light setting of their reception. Again, I would like to thank you for making our celebration a success. I highly recommend you.
