How much do you charge?

My rates are reflected on my Rates page and in my Service Agreement.

Do you offer discounts?

Yes, when booking three or more hours, you will receive an additional ½ hour of performance time free of charge. In addition, if I am booked for multiple engagements, other discounts may apply. I periodically play for charity organizations free of charge.

How will my payments be handled?

Payments can be made by personal check, Visa or Mastercard, or PayPal. I do not accept cashier’s checks due to recent fraud in the wedding industry.

For credit card payments, please fill in the last page of the service agreement and mail or fax your completed service agreement to (808) 261-3979.

For payments via PayPal, please use the Payment page.

If you prefer to pay by check, you may mail your check along with the service agreement.

For your protection, please do not email me your credit card information.

When are deposits and payments due?

Your fully processed deposit reserves you a place on my Calendar. Upon receiving your completed service agreement and deposit, and provided there is no scheduling conflicts, I will reserve your date and time. Your deposit is non-refundable.

Your final payment will be due two weeks prior to your event, along with your signed beach permit, if applicable.

At what locations can you play?

I can perform at almost any venue, provided permission has been granted by the owner of the venue. A travel fee is outlined in my service agreement for areas outside the Honolulu and Windward areas of O'ahu.

Can you play on the beach?

Yes, but a special permit from the State of Hawaii is required to perform any professional function on public beaches. If you are planning your own event, contact the Department of Land and Natural Resources. Because the fines are exorbitant, I will not perform for events that do not have a permit. I require a copy of the permit at least 2 weeks before your event, at the same time the 2nd-half payment is due. Processing time for obtaining permits can vary so please make your request well in advance.

Can you play our favorite song?

Yes! I may already know your favorite song so please check my Song List, and send me your preferred song lineup at least THREE WEEKS before the events. If I do not already know your song, I would need learning materials, and a charge applies. Please see my Service Agreement. PLEASE NOTE THAT I NEED AT LEAST 2 MONTHS TO LEARN A NEW SONG THAT ISN’T ON MY SONG LIST.

A guest would like to perform a song. Can she/he use your equipment?

I am sorry to decline on this. However, if the guest would like to sing along with my music, I can let them use the microphone (only) while I play. I am happy to learn a song request for your event; please see the preceding question.

Can we use your amplifier to play our recorded music?

Sorry, but no. This has to do with equipment compatibility, sound quality, and liability.

What if I have a DJ? Can you use his amplification setup?

Generally, no. Only in rare cases do I feel comfortable plugging into a DJ’s sound system. This has to do with equipment compatibility, sound quality, and liability. The DJ would need to approve of amplifying me and he would be responsible for the sound quality. A list of professional DJs I feel comfortable with can be found on my Community page.

Can you perform with a hula dancer as well?

Yes. Please see my Rates page.

What should I expect from a professional musician?

You should expect a professional musician to be on-time, well-rehearsed, mentally and physically prepared, dressed appropriately, and have his/her equipment in top operating condition. A professional behaves in a way that dignifies your event regardless of the occasion.
